That is a familiar looking shape.
Last time I build a cardboard boat, one of the things that really nagged me was that it was kinda tough to get the right length of paper tape.
I would pull off some tape and cut it, but the roll would always flop around and I couldn't measure it right.
So this time I made a wall mounted dispenser.
You can just barely see in the picture that the board against the wall is calibrated to 10", so I can pull the tape down to the desired length and cut it off.
If I want 16" of tape, I just pull down 10, then pull another 6 and cut.
Works like a charm !!
Here is the first joint.
Was having trouble getting the middle piece to stay in place while I glued & taped it, so I drove a couple of screw drivers into the cardboard to hold it.
Similar problem on the stern, only I didn't have any more skinny screw drivers, so I ran some long drywall screws in there.
I took them out after the glue dried.
Here is the first layer of cardboard on the bottom.
I'll be adding more (with offset joints) to make a total of 4 layers.
Am sure 2 or 3 are strong enough, but cardboard is super light and I am hoping to use her again next year.
