Fully Battened Marconi
This is the most basic of batten sails, it is a marconi that has a full set of battens in it to extend the leech and add more area, also to control the shape of the sail. This one was cut down from a Hobie 16.

Junk Rig
This is probably the most recognizable batten sail. The junk has many battens and on some configurations, each of the battens has it's own control line.

Instead of being shaped with draft like a typical square sail, the junk is flat and creates lift by vibrating.

Gaff / Hobie Main
This is David Sargent's sail, it is a cut down Hobie 16 main sail. The Hobie sail uses the battens to extend the leech fo the sail and add more area. Also the battens help control the shape. In this configuration with the yard at the top, it is technically a fully battened gaff rig.

Bat Wing
This sail is most often used on canoes and kayaks. It is sort of like a Gunter, with a vertical yard, and then it has the battens to extend out the leech and increase the area of the sail.
