Weather during the attemped PD World Record Paddle or Pedal 1-5 Mile Run. The winds were light but did gust up once at which point I took a short rest while I drifted along.
Here's the Mary E at the start of the run. The oarlocks are located 25 inches from the stern, that's what seems to work best for me.
A close-up of the oarlock and homemade oarlock socket. The socket is lined with a brass tube that was the handle of fireplace poker.
A map of the route taken, it turned out to be 1.51 miles.
View during the run, on the far shore you can see dogwoods have started to bloom, a sure sign of approaching Spring.
Here's the kind of submerged hazards found along the way. You can see the metal spike above the surface so you go around but OOPS! there's a line of concrete blocks just below the surface on either side of the spike.
Here's another submerged hazard I just missed.
End of run: the Garmin Rino 120 readout is distance-1.51 miles, time-37 min and 38 sec, avg speed-2.4 mph, peak speed- 3.3 mph
