Motorboats

PD with trolling motor
Since the PDRacer is mostly a displacement hull, it will allow you to use a low powered trolling motor more effectively than a typical jon boat. This is why -- the average aluminum jon has a sharp corner at the stern and that creates vortexes, which resists the hull moving thru the water. A PD hull has rocker in the stern to get the stern transom out of the water, which makes it easier to slide thru the water.

PD with 2hp Outboard
Andrew Linn reports that could go 2.5 mph at low throttle setting, and 7mph at high throttle.

PD with 3.5hp Outboard
Andrew Linn reports: The 3.5 works great - actually, it is probably too much power. Above 1/2 throttle, it really pulls the stern down. At 1/2 throttle, it goes 4-5mph. At full throttle, you have to move way into the front of the boat and it gets up to just under 7mph at times.

Crawdad
Similar to the SqueezeBox, but only a simple shell and only meant as a power boat. Notice the clear deckplate windows, that is a common trick for a cheap opening port. If you live in mosquito infested areas, one good technique is to mount the clear deckplate so you unscrew it from inside, and sandwich mosquito netting / screen on the outside so it makes an opening screened window.

Dock Box
Jim Michalak has designed a number of small Birdwatcher style boats, where you sail entirely from inside. One of those designs is a small 8' x 4' power boat. Duckworks Plans Page

Chugger
Stephen Lewis designed a 12' power boat called a Chugger. He has been to a number of messabouts, and the Chugger is proving to be a very viable little cruiser. Website
